Darren Willis

Philanthropy Fellow

Darren Willis was selected to serve as a Philanthropy Fellow at ABFE. He is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in public policy at Bowie State University.

Darren emerged into the world of philanthropy by way of his work in community organizing in the non-profit sector. In 2015, he founded Black Gentlemen Coalition, a community service and mentoring organization. The organization has transcended an entire community that bridges the gap between black men at the university level, and young black men in high school. He also has an extensive background in the political arena. He has worked on campaigns for local candidates seeking public office within his community. During the summer of 2018, he was invited to the United States Capitol to speak on relative issues that disproportionately impact children of color in education. He plans to continue the work within the community by running for public office someday.

In 2019, Darren earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Talladega College. He expects to receive his master’s degree in public administration from Bowie State University by the fall of 2023.
