ABFE Receives $3M Gift from MacKenzie Scott

ABFE is grateful to receive a $3M gift from MacKenzie Scott and to be identified as one of the “286 Teams Empowering Voices the World Needs to Hear.”

“As we celebrate fifty years of organizing, advocating, and strategizing on behalf of Black people, this unrestricted gift reinforces our capacity to advance the work of leading responsive and transformative investments in Black communities,” says Susan Taylor Batten, president, and CEO.

In this pivotal moment in US history, ABFE, with the support of its members, will organize a diverse network of donors to increase investments in Black-led social change infrastructure.

“The ABFE Board of Directors is honored and appreciative of Ms. Scott for the transformative gift and for recognizing us as a high-impact organization,” says Karen McNeil-Miller, board chair & president, The Colorado Health Foundation, “ABFE is positioned squarely as a leader in this moment, to create a movement for lasting change that frees Black people from disparate treatment that results in racial inequity.”

This gift is another step in the long game ─ partnering with foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and individuals, ABFE provides its members with professional development and technical assistance resources that further the philanthropic sector’s connection and responsiveness to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
