The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, a leading philanthropic force helping communities create the conditions children need to thrive and the nation’s fifth largest foundation, is seeking nominations and applications to fill the newly-created role of Program Strategist. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and working with the senior leadership team, the Program Strategist will provide thoughtful strategic facilitation and support of design, conceptualization and implementation of program strategy across the foundation as well as champion, promote and implement collaboration and learning.
Position Overview
In recent years, the foundation has clarified and focused its framework. Working towards the goal of increasing the percentage of healthy, educated children living in economically secure families, the foundation is using integrated community-led strategies to ensure equitable outcomes for children of all races and ethnicities. It has made a long-term commitment in the areas of: Racial Healing and Racial Equity; Community and Civic Engagement; Leadership Development; Healthy Children; Educated Children; Economically Secure Families; and place-based partnerships for 25 years in New Mexico, Michigan, Mississippi, New Orleans, Mexico and Haiti. To accomplish this, the foundation draws on four dimensions and categories of impact to accomplish its mission: actionable knowledge; organized, mobilized and inclusive communities; diverse, multi-generational, shared, skilled leadership; and results-oriented community-led action.

S/he will be an internal change agent, functioning as a servant leader in facilitating the integration of strategic priorities across elements, approaches and place-based teams. Working closely with senior leadership, s/he will lead the development and implementation of cross-foundation efforts to promote learning, collaboration and a culture of thoughtful action and learning-focused measurement. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience managing program strategy, design and development, and will be a strong systems thinker with experience in the formation of effective strategic and operational partnerships. S/he will be an outstanding relationship-builder who is accustomed to acting in consultative roles in matrixed environments with an exceptional tolerance and ability to manage ambiguity.
