Position Overview
The American Academy of Pediatrics, the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, has an excellent opportunity in our Department of Development for a personable and genuine fundraiser to plant and grow our Individual Giving Program. This Director will be charged with providing strategic fundraising leadership for annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving to secure strong philanthropic support for our mission.
Reporting to the Director, Department of Development this individual will develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive individual giving program, identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donor prospects, and work closely with the Committee on Development to determine strategies for potential funders/collaborative partners and provide regular and special reports on all activities in the area of major gifts and all aspects of individual giving.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or related discipline required and 7-10 years of successful experience managing annual giving, major, and planned giving campaigns required, including meeting one-on-one with individuals, working with nonprofits and volunteer/family foundation leadership, and implementing a variety of fund raising tools and mechanisms. Must be proficient in MS Office. Travel and weekend work is required; must have a valid driver’s license and car for donor/prospect visits.
