The Skoll Foundation was created by Jeff Skoll in 1999 to pursue his vision of a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. It is now one of the leading foundations in the field of social entrepreneurship. The mission of the Skoll Foundation is to drive large-scale change by investing in, connecting, and celebrating the social entrepreneurs and innovators who help solve the world’s most pressing problems.

Position Overview

The Skoll Foundation seeks seasoned, strategic business professionals who lead with tough-minded optimism and a global view to serve as Beyond the Awards Principals.

The Principal team is responsible for the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship and Beyond the Awards investments. The goal of the team is to accelerate the progress of social entrepreneurs to achieve large scale and lasting systems change. To achieve this, it identifies, evaluates, and leads the agenda for engaging Skoll’s network, staff, and resources. Beyond the Awards Principals recommend timely, strategic investments by analyzing issues and impact data from Skoll’s portfolio of nearly 100 Awardee organizations. These Principals develop relationships with funding partners to leverage broader social change using innovative social investment models. The Beyond the Awards Principals will collaborate with partners in Skoll’s Analysis and Insights team to identify organizations well-aligned with our investment strategy; with our Global Partners team to identify aligned programs and partners that will support the change they seek; and with the Skoll Awards and Community team to source and develop opportunities for investment.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated success in developing and implementing innovative finance models for social change in an international context. experience with program-related investment is a plus. Previous experience in a grant-funded organization is valued. Experience living and working in the developing world is essential. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are imperative. An advanced degree is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Must be available for international travel.
