PA Humanities is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.

The Role:

As the Program Manager for PA Humanities’ community-based initiatives, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and producing content and partnerships for a diverse portfolio of community-based projects like Chester Made and grant programs across the state of Pennsylvania. Your focus will be on growing community engagement initiatives and demonstrating the impact of humanities in action while producing new lines of programming to build up our statewide engagement, visibility, and resources. You will also manage and execute special projects like a new story-centered initiative focusing on the Black experience in Pennsylvania, and you will support the development of a statewide network of partners and grantees for learning and advocacy among BIPOC-led grantee organizations and cultural practitioners.

In addition to managing day-to-day program and partnership activities, you will plan, budget, organize, and execute projects and events from start to finish, ensure timely delivery within budget constraints, and manage resources, actively engaging with project stakeholders and addressing any issues or risks that arise throughout. Although there are no direct reports for this role, you will manage outside consultants and talent, including scholars, media producers, humanities professionals, trainers, artists, speakers, and research evaluators.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be considered for this role, you should be a doer and a changemaker with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in nonprofit, philanthropic, media, or government sectors. A related combination of education, training, or experience will also be considered.

Consider applying if you have experience developing and executing people-centered programming and events, such as developing a story-telling based project or creating a video story with a media producer or producing a live speaker event. A strong track record in community outreach, engagement, and relationship-building with community partners, and experience building networks or communities of practice are also essential. You should also have a history of working with diverse communities and stakeholders in both urban and rural settings and an understanding of cultural competency and equity principles.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $75,000 commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; pre-tax FSA, commuter, parking, and dependent care accounts; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; 403(b) retirement savings with employer contributions; employee assistance program, professional development, and wellness.

Work Environment:

This is currently a hybrid position (in-person at our Philadelphia office and remote) with travel across the state of PA. All PA Humanities employees must be fully vaccinated (and current with boosters) against COVID-19. Successful applicants will be required to show proof of vaccination by the first day of work. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for those with qualifying medical or religious exemptions.
