The Organization
The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA), based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Executive Director to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the 2,600-member association in more than 350 jurisdictions nationwide. NFBPA is the principal and most progressive organization dedicated to the advancement of black public leadership in local and state governments. An independent, non-partisan, 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1983, the NFBPA has established a national reputation for designing and implementing quality leadership development initiatives of unparalleled success. Forty chapters support the growth of the organization at the local level in major cities, regions, and states across the country.
Position Overview
The Executive Director is appointed by a twenty-seven-member volunteer Board of Directors comprised primarily of local government leaders from across the county. The staff includes three full-time positions, three part-time positions, and two executive consultants. The current annual operating budget is $1. 5 million, primarily funded through revenue from membership dues and the annual national conference.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned executive with solid leadership, organizational, entrepreneurial and business skills, who has successful experience managing non-profit organizations and with demonstrated fund-raising skills through a variety of fund development activities.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university and have at least three years of successful experience managing an organization or association.
