Newsletter Memo - July

Dear ABFE Community,

As we close out July, we're thrilled to highlight the month's achievements and preview what’s ahead in August. Your unwavering support continues to be crucial to our progress.

This month, ABFE, in partnership with sector allies, tackled the legal challenge to the Fearless Fund’s support for women entrepreneurs of color through a crucial briefing on equitable grantmaking and racial equity. In response to Hurricane Beryl, we stand united with the Caribbean Philanthropy Alliance to support the islands impacted by the storm, continuing our efforts to address the profound damage and offer unwavering solidarity to our Caribbean community.

On July 15th, we hosted an impactful session on "The Afro-Latine Experience and Afro-Latine-led Organizations," featuring Guesnerth Josué Perea of afrolatin@forum. Our participation at Essence Fest further highlighted our commitment to inclusion and empowerment, with our CEO, Susan Taylor Batten, and Board Member, Damon Hewitt, taking the stage and contributing to key discussions.

Looking forward to August, we are excited to welcome over 100 Black women leaders to our 2024 Black Women in Philanthropy Leadership Retreat in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as the launch of our new Wednesday Workshop Community Series, designed to support philanthropy professionals in tackling current challenges.
