Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Coordinator, Duke Health Development & Alumni Affairs

Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs (DHDAA) is the fundraising arm of Duke Health and seeks to secure philanthropic support across all of Duke Health, pursuing the goals of the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, the hospitals, clinical and basic sciences departments; as well as hallmark programs such as the Duke Cancer Institute, Duke Children’s, the Eye Center and the Heart Center.

Position Overview
Responsible for initiating and assisting with activities related to peer-to-peer fundraising, collegiate and youth fundraising, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs, and community programs to promote the mission of Duke Children’s in the community. This position manages several highly visible fundraising programs for Duke Children’s, including programs aligned with our Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) partnership.



This position reports to the Director, Partnerships and Cause Marketing.  The position will work collaboratively with colleagues in Duke Children’s Development (DCHD), throughout Duke Health and Duke University, with CMN Hospitals’ national office staff, and colleagues at other member hospitals across the U.S. to maximize fundraising support for Duke Children’s.



Work Performed:

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising [35%]
Identify, cultivate and facilitate the development of a community of online fundraisers focused on raising money for Duke Children’s through our peer-to-peer digital platform.
Assist in developing fundraising strategy to support digital fundraising activities for Duke Children’s, including personal fundraising, peer-to-peer events, crowdfunding, match challenges, etc.
Strategically identify uses of peer-to-peer fundraising to diversify the donor population by empowering advocates from a variety of communities.
Create toolkits and resources for fundraisers to maximize the use of digital fundraising tools.
Develop and coordinate communication plans with fundraisers to maximize dollars raised.
Manage peer-to-peer fundraising and registration sites using Blackbaud TeamRaiser and DonorDrive.

Collegiate and Youth Fundraising [30%]
Serve as the primary liaison to the existing collegiate Dance Marathon programs: Duke University, Elon University, NC State University & UNC-Wilmington.
Work closely with the CMNH Southeast Cause Partnerships Manager to help Dance Marathon student leadership understand and implement strategy culled from best practices.
Prospect new collegiate and K-12 school fundraising opportunities, and support the development of new Dance Marathon partnerships in our CMNH market area.
Create turn-key resources and education to support continued growth in the collegiate & youth fundraising space.
Serve as the primary liaison for Fraternity/Sorority philanthropy initiatives in our CMNH Market; develop positive relationships with various chapters and campuses, drive strategy for these partnerships, and create initiatives to increase cause connection for student leaders.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Programs [20%]
Serve as primary liaison for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs, including but not limited to: Extra Life & Play Yellow.
Work closely with the CMNH Southeast Cause Partnerships Manager to learn best practices for CMN Hospitals’ programmatic initiatives, and implement effective strategy within our CMNH Market.
Develop and sustain strong relationships by attending partner fund-raising events, conducting presentations, visiting partner locations, maintaining communication strategy, and leading hospital tours.
Collaborate with Engagement team for event support and communication strategy, as needed.


Community Programs [10%]
Submit community and corporate grants (Walmart, Delta Airlines, Arby’s Foundation, etc.) to support various areas of need within Duke Children’s. Maintain accurate records of application progress, grant status, gift tracking, reporting requirements, and stewardship efforts.
Seek out new grant opportunities and collaborate with Engagement & Major Giving team on applications as needed.
Submit application and facilitate the state and federal employee fundraising process.


Data Tracking [5%]

Create and analyze analytics reports to inform future decisions relative to fundraising initiatives.
Evaluate event and digital fundraising success, including data gathering for key metrics.

Other related duties as assigned.

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program.


Experience

Work requires ability to design, plan and coordinate fund raising activities and special events generally acquired through two years of project coordination experience.

Experience with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals preferred. Previous participation or oversight of CMN Hospitals programs (Dance Marathon, Extra Life, Play Yellow) is a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include: Word, Power Point, Excel and Teams is preferred.
Work requires occasional evening and weekend work.
Valid driver’s license
