For 31 years, Food Bank For New York City has served as the city’s major hunger relief nonprofit organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. One of the country’s largest food banks, the Food Bank’s mission is to end hunger in New York City by organizing food, information, and support for community survival and dignity.Still growing at more than 170 staff members and an annual operating budget of $75 million, the Food Bank distributes over 70 million pounds of food annually across the five boroughs. The Food Bank procures and distributed food to a network of more than 1,000 community-based charities citywide, helping to provide 400,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need. In addition, Food Bank runs a nutrition education program that reaches more than 170,000 people. Position Overview
Research indicates that certain NYC communities are experiencing hunger at unprecedented levels. The CPO will partner with the CEO in evolving and executing Food Bank’s strategy to support and better equip communities and charities in high need areas to respond more comprehensively to the needs of vulnerable New Yorkers. The CPO will play the lead role in strengthening and leading the implementation of Food Bank’s programming portfolio by developing new partnerships and other programmatic strategies to ensure best practices are seeded, leveraged and sustained in accordance with the strategic plan, Feed The Need.This cross organization leader will be a member of the senior leadership team and act as the central figure leading the Food Bank’s programmatic portfolio ensuring excellence, innovation and sustainability. The CPO will provide the creativity, authority, management and implementation necessary to ensure that the organization has the mission-focused programming, partnerships and services to meet near-term and strategic objectives. Further, the successful candidate will understand, reflect and uphold Food Bank’s core values.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will be a strategic, vibrant senior executive with a proven track record of leadership experience in a sophisticated and complex environment.
