Director of Philanthropic Advising Services

Trinnette Cooper joined ABFE as the Director of Philanthropic Advising Services and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating all ABFE educational and professional services programming to influence increased responsive philanthropy in Black communities. 

Cooper comes to ABFE with 20 years of leadership experience in the fields of public health, non-profits, and higher education. Prior to joining ABFE, Cooper recently served as Manager for Inclusive Excellence and Outreach at the UNC Gillngs School of Global Public Health.  Her professional and personal work have centered on addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges specific to higher education and health careers, as well as the analysis, evaluation, and assessment of programs throughout and across the academic pipeline.  Cooper was recently selected as one of Gillings’ Minority Student Caucus 50 for 50 honorees, and she is the recipient of UNC’s staff diversity award in honor of her sustained commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion through research, teaching, service, and collaborative partnerships.  Cooper is an alumna of North Carolina’s renown William C. Friday Fellowship for Human Relations and is known for her integrity and authenticity. 

A proud graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, Cooper holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and an MPH from Northern Illinois University.
